2008 Ohio Quality Dealer of the Year

2008 winners Stacy Sparks and Melanie Rose from Alan Besco Cars & Trucks Superstore in Xenia, OH

This year we were presented with the most difficult decision we have ever had to make. We had to pick a winner for the Quality Dealer of the Year Award. We were presented with the hardest selection of candidates for Quality Dealer of the Year than we ever had to choose from in more than 20 years.

The candidates for 2008 Ohio Quality Dealer of the Year:

  • Blain Amstutz - Kidron Kars Inc. - Kidron, Ohio
  • Les Revenaugh - Mission Auto Connection - Coshocton, Ohio
  • James P. Singer - Singer Auto Sales - Cauldwell, Ohio
  • Jerry & Randy Fischer - Jerry Fischer's Used Cars - Urbana, Ohio
  • Stacy Sparks & Melanie Rose - Alan Besco Cars & Trucks Superstore - Xenia, Ohio

All of these candidates are truly Quality Dealers and just to be nominated by your peers is an extreme honor for all of these applicants. However, after a three way tie which was finally broken by the last vote, cast the recipient of this years' 2008 Quality Dealer of the Year. Stacy Sparks & Melanie Rose with Alan Besco Cars & Trucks Superstore in Xenia, Ohio was the winner. These two ladies are truly following in their fathers' footsteps as Alan Besco was also a recipient of this award prior to his death in the nineties.

Melanie & Stacy will represent us as the candidate from Ohio for the National Honor which will be announced in Texas at the NIADA annual convention in June.

In 1983, when the domestic car market had dropped badly and little money was to be made, Alan Besco struck out on his own. He opened Beavercreek Motors in 1983 and then in 1985 moved the used car business to Xenia. At the outset, there were two cars, cash on hand was $30,000 with a line of credit of $20,000. Stacy Sparks, Alan's daughter was there assisting her father from the beginning. Three years later, Alan's second daughter, Melanie Rose became involved.

This trio successfully continued to build the business purchasing surrounding properties for more lot space and eventually in 1996 they built their existing beautiful office and a nine bay service garage. Presently, the average number of units on the lot for sale is 250.

Stacy and Melanie purchased the business from Alan when he retired in 2000. Together these ladies are a match hard to beat as they manage the entire business as well as doing all of the buying and selling at the weekly auctions. They have established a team of seasoned, loyal and caring employees that day in and day out continue to work with Stacy and Melanie to keep the business top rated and professional. Alan Besco Cars & Trucks Superstore has been an involved member of the Greene County community sponsoring Xenia youth baseball, soccer, Kettering Men's softball teams and local high schools "after prom" programs. The business regularly donates to Make-A-Wish Foundation, Xenia Nazarene Athletic Boosters, two local scholarship funds, The Shriners Club, the local Old Fashion Days, Old Timer's Days and bean festivals, as well as local Scout Troops. Stacy and Melanie are members of the Xenia Area Chamber Of Commerce, The Better Business Bureau, and the Grace Chapel Church in Xenia.

This business has continued to grow and prosper for over the last 24 years because of their business philosophy: "Once a customer, always a customer." The return of satisfied customers accounts for the many word of mouth referrals and attests to the integrity and honesty of Stacy Sparks, Melanie Rose, and all the entire team at Alan Besco Car & Truck Superstore in Xenia, Ohio.
